There is a reason why the Pressure Smart XD Superior Overlay is superior. It allows cirtculating air to reach the skin, absorbs moisture to keep the skin dry, and Prevents Pressure Sores, Bedsores and Decubitus Ulcers. New wool technology has produced this comforting machine washable, Urine Resistant fleece that exceeds 1900 g of wool /square meter- nearly double the wool pile density of most sheepskins.
The Pressure Smart XD Overlay is a 30" X 60" pad with natural colour wool. It is most effective when the user lies directly on the wool surface. This comforting Merino wool surface, 30mm pile, decreases pressure points, absorbs moisture and reduces shear..the 3 major causes of pressure sores.
This significantly cheaper alternative to the HiTemp UR Medical Sheepskin Superior Overlay has some distinct advantages.
- The Pressure Smart XD1900 Superior Overlay is produced from wool that is shorn from the sheep and is thus part of a sustainable wool industry. Merino sheep need to be shorn at least once a year because their wool does not stop growing. If the coat is allowed to grow too long, it can cause heat stress, mobility issues, and blindness.
- It is easier to care for, being machine washable AND machine dry. This reduces the recycling time when laundering is necessary.
- Because the pile is so dense ( at least 1900 grams/square metre of surface ), spillage does not readily pass through the pile. So, spillage can be easily cleaned up with a damp cloth. It is recommended that you wash this product when it becomes smelly. Shear Comfort warrants this product for 50 washes in Woolskin, when the recommended washing procedures are used.

Care:
Machine wash in Woolskin to condition and disinfect the Overlay. Air dry out of direct sunlight or away from direct heat sources. Can be dried in the dryer using low heat and gentle agitation. Do not overdry, because wool does best with 15% residual moisture.
